Ouaddou Lauds Orlando Pirates’ Overall Performance

Orlando Pirates manager Abdeslam Ouaddou has urged his team to maintain their standards after completing the opening cycle of the season unbeaten.

The Buccaneers go into the international break 11 matches without a single defeat in all competitions, capped by their 2-0 win over Marumo Gallants on Sunday, 20 September.

“We wanted maximum points and to not concede a lot of goals,” Ouaddou said in the post-match press conference. “I hope we can keep the consistency when we come back.”

Regarding the Bucs’ victory over Gallants, the Moroccan tactician praised his team for putting in the effort during what he called a “very difficult” game.

“To be honest, we won 2-0, but this game was very difficult,” he remarked. “This team has energy and they are very powerful, so it was a tough game.”

As a result of this latest win, Pirates remain unbeaten in 20 matches. They now sit just one point behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns in the Premier Soccer League standings, with 19 points.

The Soweto outfit are now looking to extend their streak further – and add a championship to their trophy cabinet – when they face off against Sundowns in the MTN8 final on 10 October.
